Superfoods

superfoods

Superfoods are everywhere! Actually, I haven’t heard the term too much lately.  But, fear not, superfoods still exist.  While there’s no official definition of superfood, it’s safe to say we can all agree that superfoods provide high levels of vitamins and minerals.  These foods can make you more energetic, fight disease, and maybe even lose weight.  What a winning combo!

Best Week Ever

Best Week Ever

Best Week Ever…No.  I’m not talking about the TV show! I’m talking about YOU having the best week.  Mondays are usually the red-headed stepchild of the week.  Since Monday happens every week, we might as well make the best of it.  Keep in mind, prepping for Monday morning doesn’t guarantee everything will go smoothly.  Planning ahead helps you handle the unexpected with a clearer mind.

Lessons, Losses, Setbacks

lessons

Lessons, losses, setbacks; these are not words you’d want to hear when working towards a goal or project.  However, these happen in all facets of life and need to be embraced.  In fact, we should look forward to these lessons.  Today is Thankful Thursday, so of course, we’ll talk about how we should be grateful for lessons, losses, and setbacks.  It’s important to not look at these experiences as losses, but as lessons.

Workout Buddy

workout buddy

Who’s your workout buddy?  If you don’t have one, you should find one.  The workout buddy will keep you accountable.  Your workout buddy will help reach your fitness goals.  Your buddy can help get you out of your comfort zone.  Most importantly, your workout buddy will keep you motivated.  Keep in mind, your buddy doesn’t need to local to you.

Your buddy, like mine, can be clear across the country.  A virtual buddy offers the same benefits as an in persona workout partner.  The most important characteristic is that your workout buddy be reliable.  At the same time, you’ll need to reciprocate that reliability.

Healthy Eating Habits

Healthy Eating

Healthy eating is such a broad term and can be interpreted so many different ways.  Regardless of your interpretation, healthy eating is frequently on our minds, especially this time of year.  It can be overwhelming to start a fitness journey.  We have so much information at our disposal.  Information overload can sometimes cause you to give up.  Or worse yet, the overwhelm can cause you to not even start.  The keys to a successful fitness journey are small, consistent steps.  It does nothing to eliminate gluten, dairy, and meat for one week only to go back to your original habits.  It’s better to make small changes and actually stick to them.

Sunlight

Sunlight

Sunlight is necessary for life.  When it comes to sunshine, we often think it’s only necessary for plants to thrive.  We fail to realize that we also need UV exposure.  Between the ease of working from and daylight savings time ending, we tend to miss out on those precious hours of sunlight.  This time of year, we have to make a concerted effort to relish in the sunlight.  It’s common to leave the house when it’s dark and not leave the office until it’s dark.  This makes it easy to forego the necessary exposure to sunshine.

Gratitude

gratitude

Gratitude is defined as the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.  It’s not only thanking someone for a favor or a gift.  It’s a practice.  One that, ideally, should be practiced daily.  November is usually the time of year when most of us are usually more mindful of what we’re grateful for.  But why not express what we’re grateful for throughout the year?  They say the more things you are grateful for, the more things you’ll have to be grateful for.  Makes sense, right?
