Spring is Here! Well, it’s been here for a few weeks. But since April is the first full month of Spring, let’s celebrate that! It’s also the beginning of a new month and a new quarter. All of this tells me that today is the perfect time to talk about starting a new habit, setting new goals, and re-evaluate old ones.
Getting into the swing of a new routine (be it fitness, time management, or anything else) can be daunting. Sometimes a complete overhaul is vital. I remember reading a quote, “How we do some things, is how we do everything.” Maybe I butchered the phrase, but you get the point. This is why Spring Cleaning is necessary, not just for your closets but for your mind as well. Decluttering (mentally & physically) forces you to see what works and what doesn’t suit you.
- Change Scenery: Taking a vacation during Spring break. Even if a trip is not possible, you can always visit a new attraction in your area. Regardless of how long you’ve been living in a city, there’s always a place you haven’t visited.
- Minimize: Declutter. With the change is season, Spring is the perfect time to go through your closets. If you haven’t worn something in the last year, get rid of it! Empty that junk drawer in the kitchen. Find different homes for the things you use and get rid of the “junk” you’re not using. Come on, who really wants a drawer full of junk???
- Get Uncomfortable: Start a new habit. Have you been thinking about learning something new but keep putting if off? Try it now. Make time for the things that will make you better.
- Get Outside: Breathing in fresh air and soaking up the sun are the most invigorating things we can do. Just a few minutes outside will make you feel like new!
